Soil disinfection with Herbie
Soil Resetting is a completely biological method to free the soil from diseases, moulds, insects and weeds by introducing Herbie granulates or liquid. Herbie is 100 percent vegetable, protein rich and very easily biodegradable in the soil. In this decomposition, oxygen is initially consumed. As a result, by covering with plastic foil, the soil becomes oxygen-free within 1 day, then the degradation continues under anaerobic conditions. During this fermentation process all sorts of substances are released (fatty acids, methane, hydrogen sulphide, etc.), causing pathogens to die off. After the process, the soil is ready for new crops. A favorable side effect compared to, for example, steaming, is that the soil life increases so that your yields increase. You can continue to use the soil for the same cultivation without any problems.
INDOOR AND OUTSIDE
Soil Resetting can be applied both in greenhouses and outdoor crops. Specific Herbie 82 has been developed for organic cultivation based on European regulations: Herbie 82 has now received a Fibl registration for use in Europe.
The system, which is collaboration with Wageningen UR, has been further developed. Since its introduction in 2009, it has been used in more than 150 situations in 7 countries, including tomatoes, peppers, seed propagation, lettuce, summer flowers, strawberries and asparagus.
