ORGANIC PEPPERS AND TOMATOES
COMPANY: Ruud van Schie BV
PROBLEM: Verticillium dahliae (from which the future of the company had become uncertain). Steaming is not an option because the soil loses its structure from this. Chemical extermination is also not an option due to organic cultivation.
RESULT: With Soil Resetting (5 ha): 25% more yield, increasing the turnover by 7-12 €/m2. The costs of Soil Resetting were 1.80 €/m2 (due to the large area).
BEDRIJF: van Wylick (Velden) and Van Enckevort (Sevenum)
RESULTAAT: With Soil Resetting, 10% more yield. This means more chance of contracts in the future (hiring labour and nurseries for seed companies).
AUTUMN CHRYSANTHEMUM (TOM PEARCE)
COMPANY: Pannekoek (Aalsmeer) and Klein (Roelofarendsveen): Verticillium dahliae, due to which cultivation was no longer really possible (>25% loss of plants).
RESULT: After Soil Resetting (relatively small area): cultivation possible again since it was nearly verticillium-free (99% of the plants harvestable). The costs of Soil Resetting were thus more than amply paid back. In addition, this means that no costs were incurred for steaming, which for this kind of smaller area often runs 3-5 €/m2. In addition, steaming often does not work against verticillium, but Soil Resetting does.
COMPANY: Drint in Grootegast
PROBLEM: Verticillium dahliae, usually handled with steam (costing 1 €/m2 because there’s already a boiler and only the costs of gas are needed). However, steaming no longer sufficiently helps. Plant loss remains 10%.
RESULT: With Soil Resetting (2 ha), there’s no more plant loss. The extra yield with the first crop was already 3 €/m2. For the next crop (cost 0 euros), 2 €/m2 more yield is expected.
PERMANENT DELPHINIUM PLANTS
COMPANY: Coenen (Zwaanshoek)
PROBLEM: Due to diseases, cultivation was no longer working (> 50% plant loss and reduction of yield).
RESULT: With Soil Resetting, cultivation in the coming years is again possible. Soil Resetting cost 2 €/m2 (once), increased yield of around 4 €/m2 per crop.
COMPANY: Vlesenbeke (België)
PROBLEM: A 100-year-old continuous cultivation of strawberries on a home parcel was no longer possible.
RESULT: With Soil Resetting (once): healthy cultivation again. Increased yield > 3 €/m2 over 2 years already.
