The idea of Soil Resetting originated from an R & D project on environmentally friendly pesticides (plant protection products of natural origin), with Henk Meints as project leader. This was based on an existing concept, developed by the WUR, in which grass is brought into the soil for disinfection. By further investigating this concept, a completely new and practically applicable approach for large-scale soil disinfection could be developed, called Soil Resetting. In this process, widely available, stable and compact protein-rich products / granules (Herbie) are used, in combination with a specific film material that meets the right barrier properties. Soil Resetting is now a serious alternative to chemical decontamination and steaming.
